Professional success: a study on subjective well-being and resilience in people with physical disabilities

The study verified whether the characteristics of subjective well-being and resilience are related to the professional success of people with moderate or severe physical disabilities. The tests used were the subjective well-being scale - EBES (Albuquerque & Troccoli, 2004) and the resilience scale for adults - RSA (Hjemdal, et.al, 2009). The sample was made up of 20 people with physical disabilities, 10 of whom were professionally successful adults; entrepreneur/businessman 20% (N=2), Paralympic athletes 20% (N=2), graduates/postgraduates 30% (N=3), political activity 10% (N=1) M41.5 years, SD 12.8 , with 70% (N=7) men and 30%, (N=3), women and 10 adults beneficiaries of social security M47.2 years, SD 8.03, with 30%, (N=3) men and 70%, (N=7) women. The non-parametric Mann Whitney test was performed to check if there are significant differences between the analyzed samples. There were no differences between participant groups with respect to subjective well-being and resilience.
