Abstract

This article explores the potential contributions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the optimization of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes for products and services based on Circular Design (CD) approaches. Through bibliographic research, potential affinities between AI systems and CD-oriented LCA processes are identified, which indicate that AI systems have diverse potential applications in these contexts and span all phases of the life cycle. The study contributes to filling the knowledge gap regarding AI applications in the early stages of design processes and, especially, provides inputs for optimizing CD-oriented LCA processes.
