Abstract

Creativity and optimism are characteristics that maximize people's result and performance in the different environment and situation. Considering the importance of these two traits, this research aimed to investigate adults’ perception, through opinion’s research, about the possible relation between creativity and optimism. 252 adults participated in this study (77% female), between the ages of 18 and 69 (M=36,0; DP=13,8). A closed questionnaire was applied online. The questions referred to the characteristics of the creative and optimistic person and the relationship between these traits. To have positive expectations towards the future (77%) and being imaginative (82%) were the mostly characteristics associated to optimism and creativity. In this sample, 62,7% of participants considered that when they fell optimist, they become more creative. High levels of creativity seem to be related with optimism, since the individuals with this trait tend to take bigger risks and look for unusual solutions for their problems.
