Creativity and visual impairment: a review of the scientific literature

This study aimed to analyze Brazilian scientific production on creativity and visual impairment, without defining a time period, in three electronic databases (Scielo, Pepsic and Capes). The search used the following keywords: "visual impairment" and "creativity". 28 papers were analyzed, the oldest being dated 2006 and the most current one, from 2019, there were 27 scientific articles and one book publication. A higher frequency of studies related to education (n = 14, 50%), psychology (n = 5, 17.86%), speech therapy (n = 3, 10.71%) and computer science, (n=2; 7.14). We identified 19 (67.86%) empirical and 9 (32.14%) theoretical papers. Finally, there was a higher prevalence of studies aimed at children (n=12; 63.16%), with focus on creative inclusion strategies (n = 19, 67.86%), and development of creative potential (n = 9, 31.14%). This work can possible contribute to the expansion of knowledge about creativity in the visually impaired population.
